Black
To be aware is not enough
They have been killed, misjudged, tortured.
It wasn't that they were not tough
They have been labelled, feared and murdered.
The injustice was too much to bear
they have been protesting for way too long
It shouldn't be so hard to just hear
them out, for ages, their kind has been reciting the same song
We are all made of the same material
flesh and bones and some air
in pandemic times it feels so surreal
as we lay in their care
they are amongst us, they are with us
for years doing their parts
yet we have created a mess
for years shutting our hearts
we are all the same
black white brown pale
even when the virus came
we had the same tale
Let us stop this hatred
baseless enmity and fears
we are the children of One sacred
Father to whom we pray for our life in tears
Let's love each other
regardless of who or where
we are from.
